As I was about to depart on my trip to Peru to photograph Machu Picchu, a friend came by with a man who was a seismologist who had been living in Peru for two years. She thought I would enjoy to have some advance visual information about the country. He showed me photographs of the Santa Catalina Convent which caused me to immediately change my trip to visit Arequipa, Peru where this ancient de-sanctified convent is located. It covers four square city blocks and I spent three days wandering through and photographing one of the most amazing buildings of that era that I have ever seen. These are a few of the images which I captured. The photos thus far included on my website only begin to scratch the surface of my collection. More will be added as time permits.
